This impressive Edwardian villa has elegant proportions and was largely unchanged from its original and well planned internal layout. Working closely with the original design and architectural language, the house was sensitively refurbished for modern day family life.
A new single-storey side extension was designed and built to form the kitchen and family room. It is double height and vaulted terminating in a roof lantern which brings light into the core of the space.
The hidden steel portal frame is tied together with stainless steel rods which are reminiscent of Edwardian tie bars often seen in garden rooms and conservatories of the period. Externally the new balcony and verandah detail faithfully replicates the existing and wraps around the rear of the new extension.
The external pebble dash and brickwork have been matched and the whole harmonises and feels complete, as one. The original garages were removed and a new matching three bay coach house constructed with accommodation over.
